Ruleset – Super Smash Bros Melee and Project M
Spoiler:
• Every round is played in sets of ‘best of 3’, except for winner's semis, winner's finals, loser's quarters, loser's semis, loser’s finals and grand finals, which are played out in sets of ‘best of 5’.
• Game Settings: 4 Stocks, 8 Minute Time Limit.
• Items are set to “off”.
• Pausing should be turned off. In the event pause is on and is pressed during a tournament match, whether by accident or on purpose, the opponent can demand that the perpetrating player forfeit their stock.
• No player may choose the LAST stage they won on in the set, unless agreed upon by both players. A tie is determined by most stocks, and then if still tied, by percentage. If percentage is tied, the match is fully replayed.
• No coaching request: If your opponent is being coached, you can request this not to happen and that should be honored. Note that this applies to coaching during the entire set. This is because coaching can give an asymmetrical and "unfair" advantage.
• Stalling with moves such as Jigglypuff's Rising Pound or Peach's Wall Bomber is banned.
• Glitches such as Ice Climbers’s Freeze Glitch and Mewtwo’s Soul Stunner are banned.
• In Team Doubles ‘Friendly Fire’ is set to ON.
• Gentleman's clause: If both players come to an agreement, stages may be chosen that aren't otherwise legal.
• Wobbling is legal. Keep the stalling rule in mind, which states the move is to be ended quickly after 300% has been reached. If you accidentally hit pause while trying to mash out, you have to forfeit your stock.

Ruleset for Smash 4:
Spoiler:
• 3 Stock.
• 8 minute timer.
• Items are set to “off”.
• Custom moves and equipment are banned.
• Miis with 1111 moveset are legal.
• All sets are best of 3 matches, while best of 5 will be played out for grand finals.
• Pausing should be turned off. In the event pause is on and is pressed during a tournament match, whether by accident or on purpose, the opponent can demand that the perpetrating player forfeit their stock.
• No player may choose the LAST stage they won on in the set, unless agreed upon by both players.
• Stalling is banned. Definition of stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs must end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.
• No coaching request: If your opponent is being coached, you can request this not to happen and that should be honored. Note that this applies to coaching during the entire set. This is because coaching can give an asymmetrical and "unfair" advantage.
• Gentleman's clause: If both players come to an agreement, stages may be chosen that aren't otherwise legal. .

Set Procedure for all events
Spoiler:
• The players select their characters. Players should ‘Blind Pick’ their characters to make sure the opponent doesn’t counter pick in the first match. Due to the unpractical nature of this method of selection characters are usually picked openly. Either player may demand to Blind Pick. If this happens the player that demanded the Blind Pick will put a folded piece of paper on the table with a character name written on it. The opponent will pick a character and then the name on the piece of paper is revealed and that character is picked.
• The players then play Rock-Paper-Scissors.
• Players then take turns removing stages from the Neutral Stages based upon the results.
• The winner removes 1 stage from the list, then the player who lost removes 2 stages, the winner then chooses a stage to use for the first match from the remaining 2 stages.
• The First match is played out.
• Winning player of the preceding match bans a stage from the full list of stages, both Neutral and Counter-Pick. In a best of 5 set each player only gets one ban. There are no bans in teams and in SSB4.
• The Losing player of the preceding match picks a stage for the next match. Cannot choose the stage banned in the previous step, nor a stage they've already won on during this set, unless agreed.
• The winning player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.
• The losing player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.
• The losing player of the preceding match may change their controller port.
• The next match is played
Repeat Steps 4 through 10 for all subsequent matches until the set is complete.
